Karen Patton
Status: Graduate student
Bio: Karen Patton has previously studied piano, guitar, voice and theory privately in New York and California. She currently sings in the NIU University Choir and is in secondary voice study. In addition to a B.A. in Political Science and a prior M.A. in Exercise Physiology, she also holds a Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) Certificate from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA and is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda music honors society. In April 2006, Patton presented a paper entitled "The Place of Whistling in the Musical Spectrum" at the Indiana University Ethnomusicology conference 'Pushing Boundaries' for which she received a Graduate Travel Award.
